I recently saw the Hanover theatre production, “The Birds,” by Aristophanes Homecoming weekend. This was an ancient Greek comedy preformed by our modern Hanover cast, and it was hilarious. One of our student bloggers, Bryan Kerr, played one of the lead characters and did a great job!
One thing I always love about plays at Hanover is that no one, I mean no one laughs harder or louder at the jokes than our theatre professors. They know who they are, and they have very distinctive laughs. I love this because I know that they have heard these jokes before many times yet they still sincerely laugh during each showing of each play.
I have always appreciated the theatrical talent of Hanover students. Back when I was a student I had friends that would evolve so deeply into characters on stage that they would make me love them, hate them, and even make me cry… they had no trouble making me laugh even off stage.

I also had the pleasure of seeing a Hanover alumnus on the big screen this weekend. I have been on a big zombie kick lately (the whole vampire craze is just not sticking with me), so I went to see “Zombieland.” In case you didn’t know, Woody Harrelson graduated from Hanover College back in 1983.
He played “Tallahassee” in the movie and I seriously enjoyed his character. I really liked the whole movie, but I don’t like the concept of fast zombies … it is just wrong. Zombies should only be slow and pigeon-toed. Feel free to disagree.

I’ve heard some hit or miss things about Zombieland, but I thought it was great. It’s not a deep, timeless classic. It’s a fun, adrenaline pumping zombie flick. I think if you go in expecting that, you can get a lot of enjoyment out of it.
